Enter household income and each person’s age to estimate monthly premiums per person and for your household, privately in your browser.
This is an estimate, not a quote. It uses 2027 premiums for California, Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, Arizona, South Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, Missouri, Louisiana, West Virginia, Michigan, Mississippi, Indiana, Alabama, Iowa, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and 2026 premiums for other states. Actual 2027 prices are on the state marketplace; we will update these estimates after the official data files are released., and the 2027 federal subsidy rules; California's state subsidy is included; other state subsidies are not. Your actual premium and subsidy are determined by the insurer and the official Marketplace (HealthCare.gov or your state's exchange).

How is this calculated?
First screen each person for children’s coverage, pregnancy coverage and Medicaid using state income limits. At age 65 or older, ask about Medicare. Yearly or quarterly fees are spread across months for budgeting; medical copays are excluded.
For people using ACA coverage, estimate the household monthly amount as annual income × the 2027 applicable percentage ÷ 12. This is a benchmark cap based on income, not a quote. If local premiums are lower, you pay less. Without local premium data, people outside the subsidy income range are referred for quotes.
The benchmark is the second-lowest-cost Silver plan. Guidelines and percentages come directly from the 2027 income chart. FPL = annual household MAGI ÷ household poverty guideline × 100; interpolate within each IRS band. Exactly 400% is included. MAGI starts with adjusted gross income plus specified additions; include the spouse and dependents required to file.
| Income (% of poverty line) | Most you pay, as a share of income |
|---|---|
| Under 133% | 2.15% |
| 133% – 150% | 3.23% → 4.30% |
| 150% – 200% | 4.30% → 6.78% |
| 200% – 250% | 6.78% → 8.66% |
| 250% – 300% | 8.66% → 10.22% |
| 300% – 400% | 10.22% |
| Over 400% | No subsidy |
Rates imported from the income chart. Calculate before rounding.
California adds a state subsidy (Covered California 2027 program): from 100% to 150% of the poverty line you pay 0% of income for the benchmark silver plan; above 150% up to 200%, your share rises in a straight line from 2.8% to 5.28%. You must first qualify for the federal subsidy. California estimates subtract this on top of the federal subsidy.
Washington’s Cascade Care Savings is not included yet: with income up to 250% of the poverty line and a Silver or Gold plan with “Cascade” in its name, each person pays up to $35 (up to 200%) or $20 (200%–250%) less a month.
Split the ACA amount among people using ACA coverage in proportion to the CMS default age curve. This is a budgeting allocation, not individual insurer quotes; some states use different rating rules. Rounded person amounts add up to the household estimate.
Screening uses official MACPAC’s February 2026 publication (policies as of July 2025), CMS and state updates checked October 10, 2026. Add the five-point income disregard only to nominal limits where applicable, not already-effective limits. Public programs provisionally use 2026 guidelines until 2027 updates. Annual income divided by 12 approximates current monthly income. Pregnancy assumes one expected baby added to the pregnant applicant’s household only. Twins, state-specific households and county programs need review.
Texas charges $0, $35 or $50 per family per year; California and New Jersey have no monthly child premium. Other states use official schedules below. Georgia’s published range is shown as a range; Pennsylvania uses the official average. Income alone does not guarantee approval.
Estimates assume subsidy eligibility. Immigration status, employer insurance, existing coverage and other state programs may change the result. Expansion-state adults through 138% are screened for Medicaid; below 100% in non-expansion states, ask for advice. Wisconsin and Georgia have other pathways. Excess advance subsidies must be repaid in full from tax year 2026. Update your application when income changes.
