Chinese-Speaking Health Insurance Agent in Chicago

Dongni Chen (Anny) is a licensed health insurance agent who speaks Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and English. She helps individuals and families in Chicago, Naperville and the rest of Illinois compare and enroll in Obamacare (ACA) plans through Get Covered Illinois, the state’s own marketplace.[1] Working with a licensed agent costs nothing extra: agents are paid by the insurance companies, and your premium is the same as enrolling on your own.[2][3]

Looking for a health insurance broker in Chicago or Naperville?

In Illinois, the license to sell health insurance is an insurance producer license, and Dongni Chen is a licensed producer (agent). Like a broker, she compares plans from several insurance companies rather than selling for one, and her help costs nothing extra.[2][3]

2027 Open Enrollment in Illinois

  • Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage starts November 1, 2026. Get Covered Illinois lists Open Enrollment as November 1 to January 15; it has not yet posted the 2027 deadline for coverage starting January 1.[2]
  • Pick a plan by December 15, 2026 to be sure coverage starts January 1, 2027.
  • Outside Open Enrollment, you need a qualifying life event, such as losing job-based coverage, getting married, having a baby or moving.

How much does Obamacare cost in Chicago?

For a 40-year-old with $30,000 in annual income who qualifies for a subsidy, the estimated Silver premium after the subsidy is about $155 a month anywhere in Illinois. Bronze and Gold depend on where you live:[4]

Things to know in Illinois

  • State marketplace. Illinois now runs its own marketplace, Get Covered Illinois, which replaced HealthCare.gov for Illinois starting with 2026 coverage.[1]
  • Plan changes for 2027. Beginning January 1, 2027, Cigna and Molina plans will no longer be available on the Get Covered Illinois marketplace. If you have one of these plans, you need to choose a new plan for 2027 during Open Enrollment.[5]
  • Medicaid. Illinois has expanded Medicaid. Adults with lower income are usually screened for Medicaid first.[6]
  • Immigration status. Starting in 2027, among non-citizens only green card holders and two other small groups can get federal subsidies; H-1B, F-1 and most other visa holders can still enroll at full price.[7]
